The Canyonlands chiropractor is a healthcare provider who specializes in non-invasive, medication-free treatment of conditions of muscles, skeleton, ligaments, and joints. The nervous system and its role in movement and sensation is also treated. Chiropractic sessions involve hands-on treatment, such as mobilizations, stretching, and massage for the relief of pain and discomfort.
Additionally, our Chiropractor offers lifestyle modifications to address issues that may be causing your discomfort. This may include exercises to alleviate your symptoms so you feel empowered to treat yourself once you have left our office.
Our Chiropractic Doctor at Canyonlands will take you through a comprehensive physical exam assessing your pain complaints. In addition our provider uses the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy to properly evaluate, diagnose and treat all patients. This well-researched, exercise-based approach uses a comprehensive and clinically guided evaluation of patients to determine treatment without the use of expensive diagnostic imaging.
The treatment principles of MDT promote the body’s potential to repair itself and do not involve the use of medications, injections, passive care, or surgery. McKenzie therapy allows patients to learn the principles of SELF-TREATMENT and empowers them to be in control of their own symptom management, which can reduce dependency on invasive medical interventions and endless care.
The goal of the Chiropractic Adjustment is to increase joint mobility and range of motion, relieve pain, reduce muscle spasm, restore optimal joint function, and stimulate sensory receptors that help lower the bodies perception of pain or nociception.
During an adjustment procedure, the doctor will place his hands on the area to be treated and apply a gentle yet quick movement over the joint. The joint usually elicits a “pop” or “crack”, (similar to the sound heard when cracking one’s knuckles) the term for this audible release is “cavitation”, which is trapped gas in the fluid of the joint capsule being released from the joint space. This is completely normal, safe, and most patients find chiropractic adjustments to be a very pleasant and pain-reliving experience.
We understand that some people are hesitant to explore this option, so we will discuss the risks and benefits of this remarkably SAFE procedure with you. We’ll make sure to answer all your questions so that you are comfortable before moving on. Our doctors will never adjust a patient if they are uncomfortable or do not need the procedure as part of their care.
