As we reflect on 2020 and the challenges met by our healthcare heroes across the nation, we want to acknowledge our Canyonlands Healthcare providers and staff who faced the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gratitude to our Canyonlands Heroes
Our healthcare staff have our immense gratitude. They are our heroes. Without them, we could not have continued to provide healthcare in the face of a highly infectious novel virus. When the SARS-CoV-2 virus began spreading throughout Arizona there were many unknowns about symptoms, prevention and risks. Our healthcare staff risked their own health to serve our patients. They quickly changed the clinic environments for patient safety, learned new technologies and set up testing stations.
COVID-19 Response in 2020
In addition to providing direct healthcare, our Canyonlands staff initiated new services that have had a large impact on the communities we serve:
- Telehealth
Recognizing that many healthcare visits could be accomplished in the safety of one’s home by phone and computer was critical to continuity of care for medical and behavioral health visits. Our Telehealth program will continue to serve as a vital addition to our healthcare services. - Staggered In-Clinic Visits
In addition, we began staggering patient visits and asking patients to wait in their cars until a staff member accompanies them inside the clinic. Utilizing disinfecting protocols and personal protective equipment, our providers implement in-clinic safe practices. - COVID-19 Testing
As soon as the testing equipment became available, Canyonlands began providing COVID-19 testing at all of our locations and partnered with state and county programs to roll out free drive-thru Testing Blitzes in the communities we serve. - Confidential and Affordable Addiction Treatment
Our treatment providers have made program modifications to reduce in-clinic visits for our MAT patients. Our Opioid-Help.org website provides information and confidential contact for our Medication-Assisted Treatment programs in Page, Safford, Globe and Beaver Dam. - Pharmacy Delivery
Canyonlands began providing Pharmacy delivery to the Page City Limits as well as curbside delivery at Lake Powell Medical Center. - Dental Care
Our Dental Program implemented COVID-Safe modifications and has been providing much-needed Dental Care and emergency services in Safford, Page and Beaver Dam. - Donated Services
Canyonlands assisted in the distribution of COVID prevention information (in the Navajo language) to over 200,000 individuals utilizing our social media channels. We also collected supplies donated by the Page community and delivered them to Navajo Nation distribution centers on a weekly basis.
Do you think you may have symptoms of COVID-19? Use the CDC’s Coronavirus Self-Checker located at the top of our website.
Access to COVID-19 testing in rural Arizona communities was made possible by Canyonlands Healthcare coordinated efforts with State and County programs.

Hope and Gratitude Going Forward
