Jo-Ann graduated in 1976 from Mesa Community College in Mesa, Arizona with an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Nursing. After graduating, Jo-Ann worked in a private practice office with an obstetrician/gynecologist until 1977. Next, she began working at Mesa Community Hospital in Mesa, Arizona as a Registered Nurse on the medical/surgical floor. In 1990, Jo-Ann was hired by Mount Graham Regional Medical Center in Safford, Arizona where she continued to work as a Registered Nurse on the medical/surgical floor. Jo-Ann, later continued her education with the University of Phoenix in Tucson, Arizona, graduating in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She continued attending the University of Phoenix in Tucson, Arizona and graduated in 2007 with a Master of Science in Nursing and Family Practitioner degree. She is licensed by the Arizona State Board on Nursing. In October 2007, Jo-Ann joined the staff of Canyonlands Healthcare in Safford, Arizona.
|Dr. Maria Rivera, DMD|
Dr. Maria Rivera is the dentist at our Safford, AZ location. She attended the University of Arizona in Tucson for her undergraduate degree. She majored in Biological Sciences and minored in Chemistry and Anthropology. During her studies at the university she discovered her passion for dentistry and the importance of community healthcare. "I grew up in an impoverished community in Tucson, AZ. Very few people had access to healthcare, and their teeth were proof of that. I wanted to change this." Dr. Rivera later attended The Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health to receive her doctorates in Medical Dentistry along with her certificate in Public Health- Dental Emphasis. She is a wife, mother, and oral health advocate.

Marie attended Arizona State University, graduating in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts inSociology. While attending ASU she worked as a dental assistant, making this her career for 6 years. She soon realized she wanted to expand her education and love for dentistry. She then attended Rio Salado, receiving her Dental Hygiene degree in 2011. She is a Safford, AZ native and has a passion for her community and the public's health. Marie relocated to Safford when joining the Canyonlands Healthcare team in 2012.
|Matthew Marshall, FNP|
Matthew was born in Southern Colorado and raised in a small farming community where he was taught the value of hard work and love of family and nature. Several moves in his childhood between Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, and Utah taught Matthew the value of flexibility and learning to meet new people quickly. He met his wife at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. He later moved to Provo, Utah. In which he became a nurse. A series of events took place where he knew that he needed to continue schooling. Four and a half years later he graduated as a Family Nurse Practitioner. His wife is a Registered Dietician, which makes it easy to eat well. He enjoys hiking, camping, fishing, golfing, gardening, and swimming. He is looking forward to stability and a place where his kids can grow up.
|Roberta Boon, RN, MSN, FNP-BC, OCN, RN-BC|
Roberta Boon has worked for several years in the health care industry. She began her career as a nursing assistant and later attended nursing school at Georgia State University and Jefferson Community College in Kentucky. She began working as a Registered Nurse in 1999 with a focus on critical care. She later received a Bachelor's degree in nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing in Missouri. Roberta continued her education at Wesleyan University where she completed her Family Nurse Practitioner credentials. Roberta has extensive experience working as a nurse in multiple Intensive Care Units (ICUs), oncology, pain management, home health, nursing homes, inpatient bone marrow transplantation, and working with patients of all ages. Roberta is a member of several organizations including, National Nurses Honor Society (Sigma Theta Tau), Lions Club International, American Nurses Association, and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Roberta has been married since 1997 and supports families and community support organizations. She has a passion for helping others, which has driven her throughout her life.
|Olivia Winters, FNP|
Olivia was born and raised in St. Louis, MO. She began her career as a Critical Care Staff Nurse in 1998. Later, she attended University of Missouri-St. Louis in St. Louis, MO. Olivia graduated in 2012 with a Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner. In April 2016, Olivia joined our Canyonlands Healthcare-Safford clinic. Olivia's philosophy of care is to help patients be healthy and stay healthy in both physical and spiritual health. Committed to listening carefully, she enjoys working with people of all ages across the life span. Olivia enjoys having the opportunity to help patients when they need it. 'My most important role is to help patients make good health decisions, and to partner with them to help them stay healthy.' Olivia sees primary healthcare care as another tool to provide access to care, lower the cost, and improve health care for all.
|Laura Miller, MD|
Dr. Miller received her undergraduate degree in biology and behavioral science from Rice University in Houston, Texas. She received her M.D. from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. She also has a Masters Degree in Public Health from the University of Texas and a Masters in Accountancy from Golden Gate University. She completed a family practice internship at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and did additional residency training at Baton Rouge General Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She has extensive practice experience in private practice, the V.A., and community based health centers in both rural and urban areas. She enjoys partnering with the patient for improved health outcomes, and her practice encompasses patients from 2 days old until the end of life although she no longer does obstetrics.
